FAQs
What are this year’s camp dates?
August 18-23, 2025. We will be leaving from Parkdale on Monday afternoon and returning Saturday afternoon.
Are there supervisors?
There is a great team of leaders who are excited to spend time with the youth and ensure a safe environment at camp. There will be leaders supervising each cabin and all activities. All leaders are required to pass a police check, complete Child Protection training, and attend camp training sessions.
What lessons will my child learn at camp?
We seek to give kids and youth the opportunity to be active in the unique experiences that an overnight camp offers. We also seek to teach children life and character values using stories and life lessons from the Bible and great historical leaders.
Do I need to drive my child to camp?
No. Transportation to and from camp will be provided. We will meet all the youth for pickup at Dr. Rita Cox (QV) school and will be taking school buses to the camp. The drive is about 2.5hrs. You will be sent more specific information regarding meeting time and location. If for any reason your child needs to leave camp early, we will be in contact with you regarding getting them back home.
How is the cost for camp calculated?
Parkdale Youth subsidizes $100 per camper for early bird registration, and $60 per camper for regular registration. We also cover all transportation, tuck, and additional costs. We make no profit from Parkdale Youth Camp and all of our leaders are volunteers. This year, we are offering early bird pricing of $250 if paid by July 31st. Regular pricing is $290 and is due by August 18th. If you require further subsidy for camp, please indicate this on your registration form. We do not want the cost of camp to be an issue that stops anyone from attending camp.
What is the camper Code of Conduct?
It is essential that our camp be a safe and enjoyable experience for all who come. This means each camper must treat others with respect and bullying is not tolerated. Vaping and drugs are not allowed at camp under any circumstances.
What happens if my child consistently misbehaves?
If there is continual bullying or damage to facilities, offending campers will be sent home and parents or guardians will be responsible to pick them up.
How are leaders screened and trained?
All volunteers are required to pass a police check and undergo child protection training. Volunteers are also given training in cultural sensitivity, leadership, and program/activity requirements.
